The key to the sockless look is keeping it clean, that means no bulky, rolled-up cuffs. With no socks to share the spotlight, your shoes need to stand on their own. Beginners cant go wrong with a classic loafer. Its the easiest shoe to spot sockless, and it will look stylish in plenty of situations. Always bear in mind both the formality of the occasion and expected dress code before opting to flash the flesh. Although sockless can look extremely sophisticated and refined, some events call for a more traditional approach to dressing, for example wedding or corporate offices. But for the rest of us mere mortals, who don't look like models, work in the creative industries, or have the confidence to cut completely away from the pack, the more socially palatable way to go sockless is in slim trousers or think like an Italian and go for tailored, shorter-length trousers instead.
